Hands of Exile: Making a Home with Foodways is a three-part sensory documentary series that follows three displaced Syrian women as they navigate life in Turkey. By layering intimate audio narratives over observational vérité footage of everyday cooking rituals, the project reveals how food becomes a vital tool for overcoming the alienation of exile. It examines the seemingly ordinary act of cooking as a profound, tactile mechanism for recreating a sense of familiarity in the wake of displacement.
